POLICIES
aKDPhi is committed to a safe and valuable experience for our sisters, and for our communities.
alpha Kappa Delta Phi is committed to a safe and valuable experience for our sisters, and for our communities. Several policies and procedures are in place to ensure members uphold our sorority standards. Along with these policies, aKDPhi members are required to abide by:
1
The laws of their respective country;
2
The laws of the state or province in which they reside;
3
The local laws of the municipalities they operate within;
4
The rules and regulations of the sanctioning educational institution they operate in; and
5
The rules and standards of this sorority
alpha Kappa Delta Phi Full-Fledged, Associate, and Pre-Associate Chapters are expected to comply with the sorority’s Risk Management Policy (RMP) in the situation where the university policies are less restrictive. All undergraduate chapters of alpha Kappa Delta Phi are required to review our RMP at the beginning of each academic year.
aKDPhi’s Risk Management Policy addresses seven main issues: alcohol and illegal drug use, hazing, social and event host responsibility, housing and building codes, crisis management, sexual abuse/safety awareness, and risk management education.
ZERO HAZING POLICY
In accordance with aKDPhi’s RMP, hazing in any form or degree will not be tolerated in our organization. No chapter, student, or alumnae shall be a part of, encourage, conduct or condone any hazing activities at any time. It is the responsibility of every member to see that the anti-hazing standards are not violated.
Any act of hazing contradicts the integrity and purpose of alpha Kappa Delta Phi’s New Member Program. It is the responsibility of every member to educate new members in a constructive and harmless way. Each new member and sister, newly joined or otherwise, is to be treated with respect and dignity.
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
While aKDPhi is an Asian-Interest sorority advocating for Asian-Awareness, alpha Kappa Delta Phi does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or religion. We will always welcome those who share our vision and mission, and sense of community.
TRANSGENDER INCLUSION STATEMENT
aKDPhi encourages our members to express their individuality. The sorority aims to provide a safe, nurturing environment that fosters personal growth and development within our members. This means that all gender identities are respected and celebrated. With this in mind, the gender identity of a member or a potential new member will not impact their membership within the sorority. Our Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Inclusion Policy outlines that any non-male identifying individual is eligible for membership, regardless of their specific gender identity.
CRISIS MANAGEMENT POLICY
The safety and well-being of our members is our utmost priority. In order to best ensure the safety of our sisters during a crisis, aKDPhi’s RMP includes a crisis management plan. Along with guidelines provided to chapter leaders, our International Leadership Board works together with the proper channels to monitor updates when global or national crisis occur.
